THE DREAM ACT OF 2017!
The Dream Act of 2017 has been introduced by a bipartisan group in both the House and Senate. The Dream Act would provide young people who were brought to the United States as children the chance to apply for lawful permanent resident (LPR) status if they meet certain requirements. Individuals who currently hold DACA status could potentially automatically qualify for conditional status. Both versions of the Dream Act broaden the scope of individuals that could potentially apply for residency as those who were under the age of 18 at the time they were brought to the United States would qualify as opposed to DACA which requires that the child be brought to the United States while under the age of 16. These are two bills that the public should watch especially now that the administration has been talking about potentially terminating DACA, this would at least leave individuals with DACA status on a path to residency. Contact your states representatives and tell them you support the Dream Act.
